Joey Williams of Volborg recently won the breakaway roping event at Ellensburg, Washington, bringing home over $7,000 in winnings, setting the arena record during her runs. The Ellensburg Rodeo has been held every Labor Day weekend since 1922.
Williams is currently ranked number eight in the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association World Standings in breakaway roping. She also won the Cowboy Channel’s female athlete of the week award, on September 7th. She now sets her sights on the National Finals Breakaway Roping in Las Vegas, November 29th and 30th.
