Beverly Ann Rogers was born June 4, 1935 to Lawrence and Georgia Mae Kershner in Buffalo, Wyoming. She passed away on August 21, 2022 at Powder River Manor in Broadus, MT at the age of 87 years old.
Bev married Delbert 'Hardtimes' Rogers on February 29, 1956 in Hobbs, New Mexico. They were married 44 years until his passing in 2000.
For the most part, Bev was a rancher's wife through the years, but she also had various employment opportunities throughout the larger Broadus area, including work as a babysitter, at Green's Grocery, at a flower shop, and the gift shop at Powder River Taxidermy, among others.
Bev was a firm believer of the "save money for a rainy day" concept and in 1998, she purchased her home in Broadus with cash that she had saved in an old metal coffee can. She lived in her home until 2018, when she moved to Powder River Manor.
Through the years Bev enjoyed cooking, baking, traveling, various craft projects and creating beautiful quilts. She also liked to do word puzzles and work in the yard.
Bev's family wasn't exclusive to only blood relatives. Her extended family included her special friends and neighbors of 21 years; Shawn and Shawna Wahl and their children Dillon (Brandy), Dalton, Ilea, and Daxson. Bev whole-heartedly enjoyed her time with this family, which included foster children. A favorite part of her life was assisting with the care of the Wahl children.
Bev was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Kershner, her mother Georgia Mae Kershner, her husband Delbert Rogers, her sister, Donna Schwader, great-nephew Ty Chavez, and step-son Ray Rogers.
She is survived by her niece and three nephews: Meta (Ron) Chavez and children Sydney and Lilly of Victoria, TX; Wade Schwader of Whitehouse, TX and children Michael Schwader of Fort Worth, TX, Matthew Schwader and Mark Schwader, both of Tyler, TX; Wes (Ann) Schwader of Burke, SD and step-children Dakota (Taylor) Votaw of Thief River Falls, MN and Sierra Votaw of Lincoln, NE; William (Karma) Schwader of Herrick, SD and daughter Elizabeth (Brenden) Nelsen of Martin, SD and step-children Brittny (Camille) Leaman of Anchorage, AK and Kevin Leaman of Piedmont, CO; step-son Roy Rogers of Huntingburg, IN; cousin Ronnie (Clara) Hanson of Buffalo, WY; great-great nieces and nephews; very special friends Shawn and Shawna Wahl of Broadus, MT; and other relatives and friends.
In later years, Bev attended the Assembly of God Church in Broadus.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Buffalo, WY with inurnment in the Willow Grove Cemetery.
In Bev's Words:
Death is nothing at all. It doesn't count. I have only slipped away into the next room. Nothing has happened. Everything remains as exactly as it was. I am I, and you are you, and the old life we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged. Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by the old familiar name. Speak of me in the same easy way you always used. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is an absolute and unbroken continuity. What is death out of negligible accident? Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well.
