SENIOR HAPPENINGS

By Tammy Jackman, Senior Center Director

It’s almost Fall y’all!! Hopefully the heat will be headed out the back door, I’m sure everyone will be glad of that.

We have been busy at the Senior Center, playing cards (500 and canasta), sewing, Ladies Lunch out at Seabeck’s Pizza and our trip to Terry to see the local museum, the Evelyn Cameron Gallery and lunch with Kathy Roberts at the Roy Roger’s Grille. What would the “the dog days of summer” be like without having root beer floats one afternoon? I believe they were a hit.

September is not only bringing cooler weather (hopefully) but also a new game that several have been wanting to play. BUNCO!! We will be playing on the 8th and 29th at 1 p.m. Please come by and join us.

Julie Riley will start her arthritis exercises on the 12th. First session is at 10 a.m. and the second session is at 4 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, just show up and she will be happy to fit you in.

Public Health Nurse, Darlynn Williams will be at the center on the 7th at 1 p.m. to do blood pressure checks. Please stop by if you would like to have this done.

Linda Wolff will be at the center on the 14th in the afternoon to meet with anyone who needs help with or has questions concerning Medicare. Please call Tammy at 436-2635 to set up an appointment.

Stitching and lunch will be on the 13th and 27th starting at 10 a.m. Grab some crocheting, cross-stitch, embroidery or whatever you might be working on and join us. Lunch and cards follow in the afternoon.

Ladies Lunch Out will be at PR Lanes on the 15th at noon. We had a good group last month and would love for it to continue to grow.

Our trip this month will be on the 22nd, to the Moorehead Bridge. We will be driving up one side of the river, stopping for a picnic lunch at the bridge area and then driving down the other side to come home. We should see some pretty country. Contact Tammy at 436-2635 to reserve a seat.

The Senior Citizen meeting will be on the 14th at 1 p.m. Please come and voice your opinion or give us some new ideas if you have them. I am always up for new ideas, new games, new trips etc.

I apologize for not having the menu for the congregate meal. It wasn’t available at the time of publication. You are welcome to call the center at 436-2635 and I will be more than happy to give it to you when it is made available to me.

If anyone has any extra quilted wall hangings they would like to lend to the center to help make it feel a bit more homey and cut down on the echo that would be great. Also, eggs are a hot commodity here at the center so if anyone has any extra they would like to donate we would very much appreciate it.

We have been blessed with an amazing community. The donations just keep coming in. John and Dee Stuver donated hamburger buns, Tammy Burns donated a puzzle, Leslie Stradinger donated some snacks, Lloyd Norvell gave a monetary donation and Pam Worman brought in some vegetables and also gave a monetary donation. Thank you all so much we truly appreciate your kindness.

Everyone have a great September and I hope to see you at any of the activities we have going on or just drop in to say hi. We will be CLOSED on Monday, September 5th to observe Labor Day.
