The Adopt A Teacher program is back for our 2nd year! Thank you so much for everyone that participated and contributed last year!!! Now let’s help our teachers get this year off to a great start and show them how much we love and appreciate them.
Adopt a Teacher program is an initiative that I have begun in hopes of connecting teachers in our Broadus schools and rural area schools with community members, groups, and businesses that would be interested in helping the teachers prepare for the upcoming school year.
It is well known that teachers absorb a large amount of the cost associated with stocking their classrooms with supplies, decorations, incentives and more. It is my hope that this will be a way that members of the community can feel that they are welcomed and needed as stakeholders in the education of our children. I thought of starting this initiative when I was inspired by the adopt a teacher program on a friend’s Facebook page and its enormous success. To see the outpouring of support and generosity was absolutely amazing and exciting! What a wonderful way to support our teachers and schools and show them how much we appreciate them.
The program consists of someone adopting a teacher and purchasing items from an Amazon wish list they create. The person or organization can purchase one or two or as many items as they want to on the list. A teacher or individual does not have to use Amazon. Teachers can create a list from anywhere, even locally and send the list to me. Anyone participating in purchasing items can purchase them from anywhere they would like.
The participating teachers have made their wish list and are ready to have someone in our community adopt them.
If you are interested in participating, call or message Sheila Williams 406-794-2617 and I will connect you with a teacher’s list and answer any questions.
Also, if there are any teachers not on the list please let them know of the program, and we can get them involved.
