A wreck and several small fires kept local emergency personnel busy over the past week.
A wreck involving a car and semi near mile marker 119 on Highway 212, approximately 10.5 miles east of Hammond resulted in one death, and one person transported to South Dakota with injuries. The Broadus VFD and First Responders responded to the incident, as well as Alzada Fire personnel and personnel from Belle Fourche, SD. The semi involved with the wreck burned to the ground and was a total loss, per reports.
A fire east of Broadus on Monday caused by a swather burned 28.8 acres of hayfield, with Broadus VFD members responding.
A fire 32 miles southwest of Broadus originally reported on Saturday, July 16th burned 15 acres. County and federal resources responded to the fire, which was eventually considered contained and controlled on Monday.
The Camps Pass Fire burned 0.1 acres 24 miles northwest of Broadus on Friday the 15th.
In other major news in SE Montana, on Friday, July 15th, a massive pile-up on I-90 just west of Hardin resulted in 6 deaths, with 11 others injured when a dust-storm swept across the area, reducing visibility to near zero.
