Sidewalk Proposed Along US Highway 212 In Ashland

Ashland — The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to notify the public and seek comments on a proposal to construct a new section of sidewalk in Ashland. The project is located along the south side of US Highway 212. The proposed sidewalk will begin at the Ashland School and proceed east to the Ashland Community Health Center.

Proposed work includes approximately half a mile of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant concrete sidewalk, grading, and revegetation. The purpose of the project is to construct a 5-foot-wide sidewalk to provide non-motorized users a safe and convenient connection to various other locations in Ashland, such as the Ashland School and Ashland Community Health Center.

The project is tentatively scheduled for construction in 2024, depending on completion of all project development activities and availability of funding.

The project is funded with Federal Highway Administration Transportation Alternatives funds and Rosebud County matching funds. No new Right-of-Way or utility relocations are anticipated.

An important part of properly planning for future projects is partnering with the community. The Montana Department of Transportation welcomes the public to provide ideas and comments on the proposed project. Comments may be submitted online at http://www.mdt .mt.gov/contact/comment-form.aspx or in writing to Montana Department of Transportation, Glendive office at PO Box 890, Glendive, MT 59330-0890. Please note that comments are for project UPN 10106000.

The public is encouraged to contact Glendive District Preconstruction Engineer Jim Frank at (406) 345-8214 or Project Design Engineer Thaddeus Lesnik at (406) 444-9457.
