Swimming Pool Set to Open June 4th

Editor: The print version of this article indicated a June 2nd opening date. That date has since been pushed back to the 4th.

Plans for another fun summer at the Powder River County Swimming Pool are underway. Swimmers can expect to see a small water slide this summer for some added fun. We are also improving safety with new flooring in the bathhouse. The hours will be the same as last year, and we hope to see many people utilizing our pool for its fun and health benefits.

On weekdays, Adult Lap Swim will be offered from 7am to 9am. At 9am there will be water aerobics. Tracy Thomas will lead the classes on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. We will use audio recordings on Monday and Friday. The morning swim is not available on weekends.

The normal swim hours will be 11am-2pm, 2:30pm-5:30pm, and 6:00pm-8:00pm daily. Should we continue to have a wet spring and summer, watch our Powder River County Swimming Pool Facebook page for weather closure information.

Swimming lessons will be on Monday nights for 5 weeks, skipping the 4th of July. The dates will be June 13th, 20th, and 27th, then July 11 and 18th. Jayme Gaskill and I will again be teaching with plenty of support from the great crew of lifeguards hired for the season. Returning employees include Ciara McDowell, Josh Rasmussen, Eli Heacock, and Zeason Schaffer. Lacey Robinson, Emory Gatlin, Riggin Schaffer and Mercy Brost are joining the crew for the first time. Those interested in signing up for lessons can call during normal business hours after we open for the season. Plan to call early, as sessions may fill quickly!

We are cautiously optimistic that the pool will open June 4th. Individual passes can be purchased for $100 for the season, and immediate family only passes can be purchased for $150. A daily pass will again be $3. We look forward to seeing everyone dive in to some summer fun!
