District Music Festival was held in Miles City on Friday, April 22. The band and choir both performed for judges. The band received the highest score of all the bands for the day and the choir also received a I (superior), scoring the only I besides the Miles City schools. The music students should be very proud of the accomplishments and ratings that they received.
The performances originally scheduled for Saturday were held on Monday, as the weather didn't cooperate. An adjudicator from Miles City came down to Broadus to adjudicate the students. The students that received a I (superior) will go to the State Music Festival in Billings on May 6-7. Instrumental Solos receiving a I are Zoe Page - clarinet solo, Archer Edwards -alto sax solo, Emma Isaacs - clarinet solo, Alex Edwards - trombone solo, Sophie Irish - trumpet solo, Lea Aye - flute solo, and Lea Aye - alto sax solo. Instrumental ensembles receiving a I were The Freshman Ensemble of Zoe Page, Riley Mitchell, Talyn Conley, Zach Jones, Archer Edwards, Becca Aye, and Jackson Knapp, The Party Ensemble (Isaiah McMullan sax ensemble) of Lea Aye, Becca Aye, Zach Jones, Archer Edwards, and Riley Mitchell. The SoJuSe Ensemble (sophomores, juniors and senior) of Sophie Irish, Lea Aye, Emma Isaacs, Alex Edwards, Marcus Mader, Kolton Williams and James Augare. The ETZ Clarinet Trio of Emma Issacs, Talyn Conley and Zoe Page, as well as the RAZ saxophone trio of Riley Mitchell, Archer Edwards and Zach Jones.
Vocal Solos receiving a I were Rebekah Rasmussen, Lyza McMullan, Shannon Knapp, and Michaley Knapp. Vocal Duets receiving a I were Lyza McMullan and Rebekah Rasmussen, Marcus Mader and Lacey Robinson, Emory Gatlin and Lyza McMuallan, Emory Gatlin and Rebekah Rasmussen.
Instrumental solos receiving a II (excellent) were Zach Jones - alto sax solo, Lea Aye - baritone saxophone solo, Mia Mader - tenor saxophone solo.
Instrumental ensembles receiving a II were RTZ clarinet trio - Talyn Conley, Riley Mitchell and Zoe Page, Talyn Conley and Zoe Page - clarinet duet, and Talyn Conley and Emma Isaacs- clarinet duet. Becca and Lea Aye- saxophone duet.
Vocal solos receiving a II (excellent) was Lacey Robinson, vocal duets receiving a II were Michaley and Shannon Knapp, Shannon Knapp and Lacey Robinson, Shannon Knapp and Lyza McMullan. The vocal trio of Shannon Knapp, Lacey Robinson, and Michaley Knapp also received a II. Also receiving an excellent rating were a girls group of Michaley and Shannon Knapp, Lyza McMullan, Rebekah Rasmussen, Emory Gatlin, and Lacey Robinson, and a mixed ensemble of Marcus Mader, Jackson Knapp , Michaley and Shannon Knapp, Lyza McMullan, Rebekah Rasmussen, Emory Gatlin and Lacey Robinson.
The students had a send off on Friday from Brett and Kimber Emmons who brought donuts to wish the kids luck and to honor Cale as he went with us in spirit, represented by his saxophone in all his events.
