Commissioner, Sheriff, Treasurer Positions Will Be Contested In Primary Election

A four-way race will take place in the primary election for county commissioner in June, as Lori Fortner joins incumbent Donna Giacometto along with Floyd Huckins and Larry Clements in the commissioner race.

In the race for Sheriff, Devin Boman will challenge incumbent candidate Allen (Thumper) Drane, Jr.

A two-way race will take place for Treasurer/Assessor, pitting incumbent Pat Phillippi against challenger Hattie Arithson. Nancy Gaskill, who had previously filed for the position, withdrew her bid.

Other offices up for election with their candidates include incumbent candidates Molly Lloyd for County Superintendent of Schools, Phoebe Amsden for Public Administrator, Catherine Landa for Justice of the Peace, Jeff Noble for County Attorney, and Cynde Jo Gatlin for Clerk & Recorder.

All candidates filed as Republicans except for Landa, as the position is non-partisan.

The deadline to file for the primary was Monday, March 14th, and the primary will take place on June 7th.

Watch for interviews with the candidates right here in the Examiner, in the weeks leading up to the election.
