“WALKING the grounds of GRATITUDE I stumbled upon the palace of happiness." Brendon Bruchard
“Last year, at this time, I was having foot surgery, this year, I’m on a Steps for Charity team and walking four miles a day,” explained Margaret Scoles, IOIA Team member, “I’m very grateful.”
“We love walking to keep us active especially during this very hard time when Covid hit,” explained The Bombers Team, who are Teresa Dudek, Ligaya and Angela Batarilan and Casey Knobloch, “we want to keep physically fit to boost our immune system.”
“I walk to and from work,” explained Tammy Van Tine, Happy Hikers Team. Tammy’s fellow team member and daughter, Ashley added, “I walk around the plant helping operators.”
There are several charities grateful for the STEPS for CHARITY CHALLENGE competition including Broadus FFA Chapter, Elementary Book Fair Fund, and the Erin’s Hope Project.
The Broadus FFA Chapter was chosen by a Teen 4-H sponsored team, Happy Feet Too, who are Lea Aye, Colton Biesheuvel, Paysen Kuhbacher and Ciara McDowell. The team chose the Broadus FFA Chapter for all the great service work the chapter does in the community and the leadership skills it provides its members.
The Elementary Book Fair Fund was chosen by the Little Lebowski Rural Achievers, who are Billy and Diane Stuver, Amber Smith and Marianne Ries. The team chose the Book Fair Fund because they wanted to help provide every child the opportunity to experience the magic of the scholastic book fair. Bringing home a new book is a magical experience that should be shared by all, regardless of socio-economic status.
The Erin’s Hope Project was sponsored JACAM Joggers a JACAM Chemical Services sponsored team. Team members include James Riley, Bailee Murnion and Shannon and Lainey Smith. Erin’s Hope Project, Inc. was created in March 2011 in memory of nine-year old Erin Hope, who passed away following a two-year battle with cancer. Erin touched many lives and always had a heart full of joy, bringing love to all who knew her. Erin’s Hope Project, Inc., located in Miles City, Montana, gives hope to children with life-threatening illness.
Thanks to everyone for supporting the Steps for Charity Challenge. If you see someone WALKING in the community, chances are they are racking up steps for their team and their charity.
During February and March, the high school hallways are available to WALK from 7 to 7:45 a.m. and 4 to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
