Big Sky, Big Leadership Kicks Off New Year!

By PR Extension Office

Powder River County will be the site of an engaging, extensive, intentional leadership series spanning from January to May called Big Sky, Big Leadership. The objective of Big Sky, Big Leadership is to give community members an opportunity to explore their own leadership style and to learn to work effectively in groups for positive change. The program is intended to empower participants through education to foster an understanding of community decision making, to increase knowledge of the community and issues, and to develop such skills as problem solving, working with groups, enhancing cooperation and dealing with conflict.

A total of five sessions will be held on the last Friday of each month, until May. The May session is scheduled for the third Friday, May 20th. The programs will run from 9 am to 3 pm and include a skills-building component; community-based experiences and a group project that engages program participants.

Registrations are due January 3rd and the fee is $150 for the series. Scholarships are available for one half the registration fee ($75) and will be awarded at the conclusion of the series. There is also a $50 discount for couples who register for the series.

Big Sky, Big Leadership is sponsored by MSU Powder River Extension, the Powder River Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture, the Powder River Community Endowment Fund and ReImagining Rural. Contact the Chamber of Commerce at G&B (436-2583) or Powder River Extension (436-2424) for more information.

Abi Krantz once again led the Lady Hawks in scoring against Wibaux, with 10 points on the night, including a last second shot at the buzzer to end the first quarter.

The Lady Hawks also hosted St. Labre on Tuesday, and will go into the break looking to “make the little things into habits”, as Emmons described her plan for practice. She described her philosophy: “When you do the little things right every time, everything falls into place.”

Full game stats from the Plevna and Wibaux girls games were not available at press time; we will print them when available.

The Lady Hawks currently sit third in the conference with a 2-1 record. Melstone is in second at 2-0, and Jordan leads the conference at 3-0.
