Broadus Students Attend Montana Youth Transition Conference

By Renea Bidwell

Four high school students from Powder River County District High School attended the Montana Youth Transition Conference in Missoula, Montana, November 15th through November 17th.

The conference had numerous events and guest speakers to promote students achieving their desired post-graduation outcomes. The students were able to attend this event through funding provided by a Pre-Employment Transition Services school contract funded by Montana Vocational Rehabilitation and Blind Services.

Outside of the conference, these students attended a tour of Neptune Aviation and Blue Mountain Bed and Breakfast. Neptune Aviation is the most reliable and innovative aerial firefighting company and the primary provider of large airtanker services to the United States Forest Service.

The Blue Mountain Bed and Breakfast is a family owned and built lodging retreat that has hosted more than 10,000 guests over the past 16 years.

On both tours, our students were introduced and educated on the skills sets required and career opportunities these businesses offer that are beyond opportunities that are available in rural eastern Montana. The students appreciated the opportunity to expand their knowledge of vocational choices and engage with peers and gain knowledge of career resources.
