Cross Country Races At Joliet, Prepares For State

By Broadus Cross Country Coach Ashley Emmons

Our last meet of the regular season was in Joliet. The weather was about perfect running weather; it was a little windy but besides that, beautiful! The Joliet course is a little strange as the course runs through a couple streets throughout the town, but that definitely did not seem to bother any of the runners!

Rachel Rasmussen broke her school record, again, with a huge personal best time of 22:02. This beat her previous best time by 26 seconds!

Rebecca Rasmussen also had a personal best time in Joliet of 23:50, which was 47 seconds faster than her previous best time! I am so proud of Rebecca and am incredibly excited about the amazing runner she is becoming.

Mercy Brost ran a great race and is definitely fighting her way back from her two weeks of being sick. She ran a 29:52 and I'm confident by the state meet she will be where she needs to be!

We leave for Missoula on Friday. The race is at the University of Montana golf course. We will preview the course on Friday afternoon, and then we race at 2:45 pm on Saturday the 23rd. I am so proud of these three tough girls for such an amazing season so far. They are peaking and running their best times at the exact time of the season that they need to be! I am so excited and ready to see what they can do at the state meet!
