Broadus VFW Post and Auxiliary 1595 hosted the Fall District Meeting Saturday, September 18. Posts and Auxiliaries from Ekalaka, Forsyth, Glendive, Miles City, and Jordan were in attendance in addition to Broadus. A noon meal was served before the 1:00 p.m. start of the meeting. The Post prepared pulled pork and the Auxiliary ladies prepared the rest of the meal and served it.
Before the business meeting started, the rifle raffle sponsored by the Post and the quilt and centerpiece wreath made and donated by Auxiliary members Tracy Gorder, Pat Ridenour and Cathy Ruland were drawn for. This was Tracey Gorder's lucky day as she won the rifle and the quilt. Winner of the wreath/centerpiece was Patti Brix. Proceeds from the Auxiliary raffle go to the veteran's hospitals in Miles City and Glendive. Thank you, ladies, for making the quilt and wreath. They were very nice and the proceeds will definitely benefit our veterans.
Our Buddy Poppy lady, Pat Hanlan, had poppies at our meeting too.
Draping the charter for deceased members and election of officers will be at our spring meeting.
Our Montana Department (State) President was in attendance. It was a real treat to have Sandi Sullivan be a guest and clear up questions we had about some of the different programs. Also as a guest was Billie Jo Brue, Chief of Staff. Both ladies were from Troy, a long way to Broadus.
Jackie Poland from Ekalaka invited everyone that is in the Senate District of Ken Bogner and Representative Jerry Schillinger to a Town Hall Meet and Greet with them September 29, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ekalaka Event Center. Yes, Broadus is in their district.
After reports on the veteran's hospitals at Miles City and Glendive and hearing suggestions for the good of the order, President Joby Parker adjourned the meeting. The spring meeting will be in Ekalaka in April. A special thank you to all of the 1595 Auxiliary ladies for their help in preparing and serving the dinner and to the Post for preparing the meat.
