By Senior Center Director Rita Harden
A new low income energy assistance program (or LIEAP) season has begun; brochures and applications are available at the Senior Center. This year, LIEAP has combined with LIHWAP (Home Water Assistance Program). If you qualify for LIEAP, you will also receive a benefit towards your water provider.
Just a reminder: If you qualify for SNAP benefits, you will qualify for LIEAP, and only need to submit the LIEAP Application with a current utility bill. You can still qualify for LIEAP benefits even if heating is included as part of their rent or the bill is not in your name.
In addition to LIEAP / LIHWAP, the Energy Share Program may be able to help with electric or heating costs. Energy Share is an emergency program for those facing disconnects. If you have any questions, you can reach the LIEAP Technicians at (800) 227-0703.
As many of you know, the congregate meal is held on Wednesdays at Powder River Lanes from 11:30 until 12:30. Congregate meals for the remainder of the month are chicken pot pie on 9/22 and chicken and noodles on 9/29.
Our final trip for 2021 will be on Thursday, September 23rd. We will be traveling to Ashland for lunch, to visit the Cheyenne Indian Museum at Historic St. Labre Indian Mission and possibly the Heritage Living Center. Please let Rita know if you are interested.
