Fifteen teens competed in three heats for the best wooly mutton busting honor at the Fair on Wednesday night. The "Buckaroos" team featuring Jayce Schroeder and Logan Capp crossed the finish line with the fastest time of 45.21 with Stella Zander glued to the back of her buck. The second-place team was the "Jolly Ranchers" and consisted of Aria Gatlin, Farrah Gaskill and Shyla Madsen with a time of 51.80. The third-place team, "The Three Amigos" included Presley Williams, Whitney Tarver and Wade Reno who crossed the finish line in a minute flat. The fourth and final team to place in the money was the "Wiley Wool Tamers" who were Syd Stoddard-Terrill, Addison Draine and Ava Landa, one second later than the third-place team. That is a tight race!
The event was coordinated by T.J. and Heather Cunningham with the bucks provided by Terry, Sherry, and Jeff Considine. The Turnboughs and Trents provided halters for the event and the Daisy Patch Embroidery and Broadus Boot & Tack provided awards.
Other teams and participants included: "Free Range Children": Paisley and Emelyn Harper and Addison Randall; "The Sparks": Sophie Ostendorf, Bonita and Reuben Kinzer; "Sheep Riders", Sawyer Ostendorf, Danica and Jordyn Schroeder; "The Miss Daisys": Dolly and Kinzie Randall and Macey Madsen; "The Tazmania Devils": Ashton Madsen, Chas Gaskill and Denver Kuhbacher; "The Lamb Chops": Mason and Ashton Hodgkiss and Brock Gali; "The Sheep Bandits": Cody and Cole Draine and Braydn Stoddard-Terrill; "Baaad to the Bone": Anna and Kassie Hagedorn and Laney Williams and "Little Bo Beep": Kinsley and Kennedy Miller and Griffin Gardner.
