Gordon Gould

Gordon Allen Gould, age 88, of Miles City passed away peacefully at his home in Miles City.

Gordon was born on the 27th of June 1932, at the family homestead between Hammond and Boyes, MT to Charles and Mattie Gould. As the only brother to four sisters, he learned to become quick of wit and fleet of foot. He enlisted in the US Navy as a Seabee in 1952 and served in the Philippines and Guam. He was very proud of the work he did with heavy equipment on construction of the base at Subic Bay and Cubi Point. He returned home to marry Vivian Schola and they had a baby girl, Sandra. The marriage was short lived and later married Nancy Amende and had three children, Tana, Juanita and Glen. After a short stint as a roustabout on oil rigs, his training in the Navy led him to work for Powder River County and then the State of Montana Highway Department. The community he served was so appreciative of his efforts to improve their roads that they petitioned the State and he was awarded Highway Employee of the Year. He continued until his retirement doing what he loved.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, the PBR, history, airplanes and making beautiful knives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mattie Gould, his sisters, Montana, Frances and her husband Raymond Mitchell, Georgia and her husband Stanley Damm, Myrtle (Toohey), brother Daniel and granddaughter Tandra Allen. He is survived by his wife Nancy, brother-in-law Joe Toohey, daughters, Sandra, Johnson (Jeff), Tana Gould, Juanita Hastings (Thomas) and son Glen Gould (Heather) plus multiple grand and great grandchildren.

He was not a millionaire of a CEO but everyone he met went away richer for the experience. A kind, generous, fun and loving man whose legacy is the love he left in our hearts.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Valley View Cemetery in Broadus, MT. A luncheon will be served following at the VFW in Broadus. Condolences can be made to the family by visiting http://www.stevensonandsons.com.
