Athletic Fundraiser coming up next week

In a bid to raise money for athletic projects at the school such as new wrestling mats, the Letterman’s Club is back in action. The club, long a mainstay of life at PRCDHS, has gone by the wayside over the past few years, but Athletic Director Mike Richards is bringing it back.

The first event will be held next Thursday, April 29th, featuring the basketball players vs the wrestlers in a dual – the event will consist of two teams with each team having a combination of basketball players and wrestlers. The two teams will then play each other, first in a basketball game, then in a wrestling dual.

In the basketball game, points scored by the wrestling team will count double, while points scored by basketball players will count like in a usual game.

In the wrestling meet, players will be divided up into weight classes, and will then face off on the mats. A handicap system has been set up by Broadus Wrestling Coach Frankie Schoonover to even things out. Broadus Wrestlers Kyle Minow and Dakota Holbrook, who wrestled each other at State, will be team captains during the wrestling side of the event, and will face off against each other, as will Basketball Brothers Wyatt and Dillon Gee, this time on the mats.

The event will take place at 6 pm, April 29th, with a five dollar cover charge to attend. Donations are welcome.

Future Letterman’s Club events include the return of storied events such as the Elementary Basketball Tournament, and the L Club Dinner.
