Week 4
How do you get your steps?
“I WALK back and forth in my office, at home and while I read or watch videos. Whenever I can, I WALK to work and to run errands around town,” explained Denni Schuetzle, Cardiac Arrests member.
“I WALK grid patterns down by the Powder River looking for Whitetail sheds,” added Christine Appleman, member of Powder River Pals.
STEPS FOR CHARITY is at the half-way mark. And in MARCH, the weather couldn’t be springier for WALKING those extra steps.
The charities highlighted this week are:
Craft Fund for Powder River Manor Residents chosen by the Marching Mamas, who are Tammy and Ashley Van Tine, Shanna Talcott and Liz Riter. Marching Mamas chose to support the residents at the Manor and believe creating crafts is great recreation. The Powder River Manor can always use extra resources to continue quality educational programming for the residents.
Eastern Montana Community Mental Health Center (EMCMHC) is the charity chosen by the Berries and Cherries who are Brenden Stevenson, Callie Williams, Erica Naillon and Ayche Draine. They chose this charity because law enforcement works with people, who sometimes experience mental health or substance misuse issues. People are not aware of the programs and services available. “We’re stepping for EMCMHC to assist with the different invaluable programs and services they offer.”
Take a WALK TODAY
Today Show host, Al Roker’s goal is 15,000 steps each day. The Today Show has a 31-day walking plan called #TAKE A WALK TODAY at www. today.com/walking-guide [today.com] that lists walking resources.
A couple #TAKE a WALK TODAY recommendations include:
• Listen to podcasts or audiobooks. Overdrive is an APP available through the Montana library system that allows members to listen to audio books FREE. Check it out at the Henry Malley Memorial Library!
• Start an exercise plan YOU want to do the rest of YOUR life! Whether it’s WALKING, yoga or running, start an exercise you’ll want to do each day, each month, and each year. Start a plan you’ll ENJOY for a lifetime!
