Powder River Public Health is anticipating our first shipment of Moderna COVID vaccine this week and will be vaccinating healthcare workers and frontline staff as early as January 11th, 2021. This will be followed by age groups and compromised community members according to the Montana allocation plan.
The Moderna vaccine comes in 10 dose vials and once a vial is opened it must be used within 6 hours. Powder River Health will start notifying frontline staff once available and supplement with other members of the community who wish to receive the vaccine in order to use an entire vial. Appointments must be made in order to ensure time and space are available. Please contact public health if you wish to be placed on the list of recipients.
If you have questions on who should receive the vaccine please consult your healthcare provider. More information on the Covid vaccine, and Montana allocation plan can be found at the following:
The staff and residents at the Manor will also have the vaccine available to them within the next two weeks from CVS. CVS have been contracted through the Federal Government to provide vaccine to long term care facilities. We are actively working on contacting families of residents to provide information and consent to administer.
The updated covid plan as of January 5th shows Phase 1A recipients include frontline healthcare workers, long term care patients, and healthcare workers with direct patient contact. Phase 1B includes persons aged 70 and older, and persons aged 16-69 with high risk medical conditions. Phase 1C includes frontline essential workers, persons aged 60 and older, those in congregate care and correctional facilities, and those aged 16-59 with elevated risk of medical conditions. Phase 2 included all remaining Montanans aged 16 or older. The list of medical conditions may be found on the site linked above.
