Virginia Rumph Robinson passed away at the Powder River Manor on October 15, 2020.

Virginia Lee Rumph was born on August 12, 1920, at Kruger, MT located on Butte Creek. The daughter of Clark and Gertrude (Schaap) Rumph, Virginia had five brothers and one sister, Rolly, Raymond, Richard, Robert, Vern, and Roger. Virginia attended the Butte Creek School for eight years before transferring to Broadus. She boarded out in Miles City for part of her freshman year then returned to Broadus to graduate in 1938. Following high school, Virginia worked in the ASCS office in Broadus and then as the Deputy County Clerk and Recorder. In this office Virginia became familiar with people getting married. During this time she loved to go to all the local dances. At a Butte Creek dance, Virginia met the love of her life Frank P. "Bob" Robinson. Bob enlisted in the army at Fort Robinson, Nebraska in January of 1942. In September of 1942, Bob came home on leave to see his sweetheart. Bob and Virginia took a road trip to Red Lodge, MT where they went to the courthouse and got married on September 15, 1942. From Red Lodge they then ventured through Yellowstone Park on their honeymoon. Virginia then went back to Nebraska with Bob and they lived in Crawford, Nebraska for about three years. They made many lifelong friends there.

Virginia's first child, Anita was born in Chadron, Nebraska in March of 1944. Virginia and Bob moved to part of the LO ranch in 1946. While living there they had their second child in Miles City, Dennis. In 1948 Gordon was born and Gwynne in 1950. In showing the unbelievable strength of this wonderful woman, she endured losing three of her four cherished children, Gordie at age 6 in 1954, Gwynne at age 10 in 1960, and Anita at age 53 in 1997 and then the love of her life, Bob at age 96 in 2014. Virginia and Bob moved to the Tony Fransico Place, 8 miles north of Boyes, MT in 1950 and ranched there for 10 years. In February 1960, they moved to the Kuester Place, 15 miles north of Hammond on the Crow Creek Road. Bob and Virginia ranched at the Kuester place until they decided they wanted to semi retire and move closer to Broadus. They bought a beautiful place along the Little Powder River in 1979. Virginia was the Secretary of the CowBelles for decades. She was always involved with the East Fork Roping Club and many other events and organizations she could lend her secretarial skills. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She was a very hard-working ranch wife that survived many difficult times.

Virginia's biggest love was anything involving her family and friends. She loved to attend basketball games and rodeos of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed going to Broadus and playing cards, bowling, dancing and attending parties. Virginia had a great green thumb. She could raise beautiful flowers and yard and a bountiful garden. In September 1987, she got Bob talked into going on a bus tour that visited 19 different states back east and saw beautiful fall foliage. Bob's sisters Bernice and Edith toured with them. She would cook a wonderful meal on the spur of a moment and make a lemon pie that everyone wanted a piece of even though she would say "it isn't very good". They were always delicious!

Virginia was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bob, three children, Anita Talcott, Gwynne, Gordie, her parents, and six of her siblings, Rolly, Raymond, Richard, Robert and Vern. She is survived by her son Dennis (Linda) Robinson, grandchildren Gerri Lynn (Dave) Pillar, Juanita (Zane) Williams, Joy (Dave) Price, Michele (Rob) McCue, Chad (Lisa) Robinson, Nicole (Scott) Wichman, twelve great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, one brother, Roger and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2020 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Broadus. Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 19, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. at the Valley View Cemetery in Broadus. Condolences may be made to the family by visiting: http://www.stevensonandsons.com.

This wonderful woman will be missed by all. She did reach her goal of living longer than her older brother Rolly, 100 years, 2 months and 3 days. Rest peacefully in the loving arms of all your loved ones in heaven.
