Show your community spirit by decorating a straw bale to celebrate Homecoming and Halloween. Powder River Extension and the Chamber of Commerce and Ag have teamed up to organize a straw bale decorating contest. All individuals, clubs, businesses and organizations are encouraged to join the fun. Decorate bales between October 19th and 24th. The bales will remain in place through October 31st (and “no” you can’t take them home to feed your livestock).
Green Acre Ranch is providing bales; Gardner and Billing, CPA is sponsoring the $100 cash award which will be split between the top 3 winning entries. Contact the Extension Office at 436-2424, to register by October 15th.
“This is one of many ideas generated at the Reimagining Rural programs held in September and October,” stated Powder River Extension Agent Julie Riley. “Let’s celebrate where we live and show pride in our school and community! Not everyone has access to large round straw bales to decorate their town with,” she concluded.
