Museum Volunteers Needed Saturday, October 10th

By Jessica Malone

As a founding member and former President of the Powder River Historical Society, Ron Talcott had endless energy and vision for the betterment of our local museum. This Saturday, October 10th, starting at 10 am, we need your support to advance one of Ron’s final projects. Help us get our new building ready for displays!

The enclosure of the original three-sided car barn was recently completed by Gatlin Construction. Funded in part by a grant from the Powder River Community Endowment Fund, the building now includes a new display room on the west end, which Ron envisioned as the home of our prehistoric fossil collection. Members of the local Art & Soul club have graciously volunteered their talents to paint a mammoth mural inside the new building, as this area will also eventually house a skull cast of the Powder River Columbian Mammoth discovered on the Randall Ranch.

In addition to the mural, we’ll be working on a number of projects to improve our facilities, including hanging artwork and building and designing displays. We welcome artists, painters, cleaners, movers, decorators and handymen and women of all ages!

So please join us at the museum for a fun work-day! Light refreshments will be available. For the safety of our at-risk volunteers, social distancing and masks are encouraged. For more information, call Jessica at 406-478-3114 or email powderriverhistory @gmail.com.
