A community blood drive will take place on Thursday, October 22nd from 2-6 PM at the Broadus Community Center. At the upcoming blood drive in Broadus, Vitalant, the company running the blood drive, will test for COVID-19 antibodies. The company is currently looking to draw plasma from COVID-19 survivors, as their CCP (COVID Convalescent Plasma) is used as a treatment for current patients. Plasma donations are requested from COVID survivors who have been symptom free for more than 28 days. These donors must fill out a questionnaire when making an appointment to let Vitalant know of the volunteer’s wish to donate plasma.
Masks are required for everyone looking to donate, and while walk-ins are welcome, appointments are requested, either by calling Sue Richards at 436-2896, or visiting http://www.bloodhero.com, and using sponsor code broadus.
