The Broadus Hawk Football team made the 273 mile drive to Scobey, last Friday. Sitting around 15 miles from the Canadian border, Scobey boasts a tough Class C football team, and they demonstrated their strength against the Hawks.
Broadus went 3 and out on their first possession, with Scobey blocking a punt, then after another failed drive for Broadus, Scobey ran a trick play to put them up 12-0 in short order.
The young Hawk team had difficulties staying on task, and were outplayed on both sides of the ball, while Scobey showed a solid team in all areas of play. Broadus was down 30 to 0 after the first quarter, 46 to 0 at the half, and with a running clock and a JV Scobey team on the field, Broadus was finally able to score, with a final score of 66 to 6, Scobey on top.
“There’s no way to sugarcoat it, we didn’t play well,” Broadus Head Coach Ross Randall said of the game. “There’s some blame with our coaching staff, but it was an all-around bad game.”
Broadus looks to improve on its 1-2 record this weekend at Culbertson, in another road trip to the north side of the Missouri. Culbertson has some big kids, but lacks speed, which is one area where the Hawks excel.
The Culbertson game takes place this Friday, at 7 pm.
In Junior High action, the young Hawks lost 42 to 0 against Scobey’s junior high. A JV game originally scheduled for September 14th was cancelled by Scobey. Full stats from the Varsity game were not available at the time of publication.
