Letters to the Editor

Billy,

I want to commend Governor Steve Bullock for doing what many governors in rural states like ours were unable or unwilling to do -- work with both parties to expand access to health care and boost our economy through Medicaid expansion.

By bringing Republicans and Democrats together, Governor Bullock led the way in making health care more affordable for nearly 1 in 10 Montanans, including 10,000 veterans and their families.

But Medicaid expansion did much more than make our state healthier. It was also integral in saving many of our rural hospitals, which are the economic backbone of so many of our frontier communities. Medicaid expansion sustains thousands of jobs in all corners of Montana and pumps hundreds of millions into our state’s economy. To say it has given a return on investment is a huge understatement.

None of this would have been possible without strong and steady leadership from Governor Bullock. It wouldn’t have been possible without a governor willing to work with Republicans and Democrats to get things done for Montana. And it wouldn’t have been possible without a governor strong enough to stand up to special interests and do what’s best for working people.

Governor Bullock is the leader we need to keep bringing people together to move this state forward. Join me in voting for him for U.S. Senate in November.
