Let'er Buck at the Centennial Powder River County Fair!

The 100th Powder River County Fair will be held August 4th-7th (Tuesday through Friday) with a few new twists. The 4-H Horse Show will be held on Tuesday, beginning at 9:00 a.m. The official kick-off for Fair will take place Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. with a Centennial Fair Parade followed by opening ceremonies, a Rough Stock Challenge and Crazy Cowgirl Trick Riding.

4-H non-livestock exhibits will be received all day on Tuesday. No interview judging will take place; and most non-livestock exhibits will be judged on Wednesday. Open class exhibits can be dropped off Wednesday from 1:00 – 6:00 p.m. and before 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. They will be judged on Thursday. All non-livestock exhibits will be released on Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m .; but can be picked up any time on Friday.

The Big Sky Memorial Dog Trials are scheduled for Wednesday, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Laser Tag in the Park will also be available that afternoon. Wednesday’s activities will conclude with Wild Sheep Riding at 6:00 p.m. and the Top Dog Trials at 6:30 p.m.

The Working Horse Show will take place Thursday morning beginning at 8:00 a.m. The 4-H Swine Show will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by the sheep and goat show at 1:00 p.m. and the poultry show at 3:00 p.m. Comedy, magic & hypnosis will be provided by Alan Sands throughout the day. Laser tag will be available in the afternoon, along with a car show in the park and duck races at the pool. Lawn Mower races are set for 5:00 p.m. followed by the big event of the evening, Muddy Pig Wrestling at 7:00 p.m.

A variety of activities are scheduled for “Under the Tent” on Thursday and Friday ranging from a watermelon eating contest and a frog jumping jubilee to music by Clark Appleman and Story Time with Molly.

Friday morning will begin with bum calf judging and the 4-H Beef Show at 8:30 a.m. The Round Robin competition is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., followed by the Calf Scramble at 2:00 p.m. and the awards ceremony and Fairbook dedication to Bob & Virginia Robinson at 3:00 p.m., with the 4-H Livestock Auction at 4:00 p.m.

The Calcutta for the East Fork Ranch Rodeo will begin at 5:30 p.m. with rodeo action starting at 6:00 p.m. Vaughn Zenko Music/Karaoke will close out the Fair at 9:00 p.m.

Pick up a Fair Book at the Extension Office or go to http://www.prco.mt.gov/Fair for a complete schedule of Fair activities. Social distancing and masks will be encouraged throughout the Fair, and hand sanitizer stations will be dispersed throughout the buildings. In addition, traffic patterns will be established to reduce areas of congestion. Please don’t attend if you don’t feel well; or if you are uncomfortable with large crowds and the potential risk of COVID-19 exposure.
