Billy Grant

Billy Ray Grant, age 68, of Ashland passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2020 in Wyoming.

Billy Ray Grant was born August 8, 1951 along with his sister Kay. He attended the Broadus schools until he left to go work with his brother, Cliff, driving semi-trucks on various local jobs.

He owned a bar in Ranchester, Wyoming and the Cashway Truck Stop in Broadus, Montana. He married Toni Morton in 1974 and they had a son, Billy Ray Grant. He later married Glenda McKelvey in 1997 and they made their home in Ashland, Montana until the time of his death. When Billy and Glenda first married Billy was not a cat lover and was adamant that they would not have any cats but a couple of years later Billy softened his stance on cats and surprised Glenda with a kitten for her birthday. He worked for Riverside Construction starting in 2003 until medical conditions forced him to retire in 2019. He drove side dump and belly dump trailers. He enjoyed working for them. He was gone from home during the construction season and then laid back for the winter. Billy enjoyed participating in derby races.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda; his brother Cliff Grant of Broadus, MT; his son Billy Ray (Stephani) Grant of California; his granddaughter Piper and grandson, Max of California; numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Carla (Jay) Johnson; step-sons, Laiben (Trudi) Woods and Wade Woods; his mother-in-law, Eva McKelvey; two granddogs, Stormie & Diesel and a fur baby Crackers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles & Nellie Grant; siblings: Gene Grant, Willard Grant, James Grant, Kay Ostrum, Nellie Johnstone, Esther Sandine, and Marie Farrar.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 19, 2020 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Broadus. Interment will be held in the Valley View Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: http://www.stevensonandsons.com.
