Luke Herzog Wins Voice of Democracy Contest

By Tom Herzog

Luke Herzog was awarded a $100 award from the Veterans of Foreign Wars, District 6 for his first-place entry in the Voice of Democracy essay contest.

Herzog read this essay while school was still in session for the Veteran's Day Assembly. He cited that experience as one of his most memorable accomplishments as Student Body President, second only to successfully returning the Pledge of Allegiance for daily recitation. Herzog said, "I am very passionate about this country, so to be the recipient of this award brings me great pleasure." The paper's theme was "What Makes America Great".
