Billy,
At the end of January, Ray Traub became ill with what was thought the flu, on February 1st it was discovered that he had viral meningitis and shingles on his brain, leading to encephalitis and pneumonia.
On February 11th Ray was moved to the Billings Clinic. Nine days later he contracted pneumonia again!
Ray is now at the Advanced Care Hospital of Montana where he will receive care to help him recover from this very serious illness.
Melinda has been by his side from day one. This has meant hotel stays, traveling back and forth and eating away from home for all of the family. As most people know these things add up fast, if you would like to donate to help with these expenses, we know the family would be very appreciative, but more importantly we ask for continued prayers for healing.
There is an account (Ray Traub Care Fund) at 1st Bank of Broadus as well as a GoFundMe account by the same name.
“Thank you seems not enough but, it's so humbling to know that Ray is so well liked and loved by so many friends and of course his family, and the community as a whole. I do so appreciate all the prayers, well wishing, and caring that has been sent to Ray. I know that when I tell him of all this I already see this special smile only Ray has....” Melinda
Sincerely, Carla Bowers
Dear Editor,
D.C. style swamp politics are, unfortunately, creeping up in Montana elections. A fake news outlet is spreading outright falsehoods about the 2019 legislative session; accusing me of supporting taxpayer funded abortions.
I am strongly pro life, always have been. I was given an "A" rating by the Montana Family Foundation, the state's strongest pro life association. My accusers are long on innuendo and short on facts, but they might be referring to a bill that reformed the medicaid expansion program. This was a complex bill, one which I'll go into in future letters, but it IN NO WAY effected the legality of, or funding for abortion in Montana. The Hyde amendment was passed by congress in 1993. It prohibits medicaid funding for abortions except in the cases or rape, incest or threat to the mother's life.
More importantly, traditional medicaid was already covering pregnant women up to 150% of the federal poverty level. The 2019 medicaid reform act only dealt with people making up to 138%. In other words, the 2019 bill HAD NO EFFECT on the number of pregnant women covered.
In this age of hyper partisanship, we all must be more vigilant and skeptical of where we get our news. There are just too many sleazy spin factories out there. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not their own facts.
Feel free to shoot me an email is you would like to discuss this, or any other legislative matter further.
Representative Eric Moore
