Attorney General and Republican Governor Candidate Tim Fox visited Broadus on Tuesday, where he met with the commissioners, other elected officials, and members of the community at the courthouse. Discussion centered on the potential for a critical access hospital in Broadus, the speed limit situation on Hwy 212 and possible solutions to the issue (such as the addition of more passing lanes), and the Montana State Crime Lab. The crime lab, as well as the highway patrolmen who police 212 fall under Tim's umbrella as the Attorney General, while Fox said that he put the commissioners in touch with folks who may be able to help make the critical access hospital a reality.
Following the courthouse meeting, Fox stopped by The Examiner office, where he spoke to us about his Governor campaign, as well as work he is doing as the Attorney General, a position which he has held since 2012.
Fox spoke of his youth spent growing up in Southeastern Montana – Tim grew up in Hardin, and hunted the country south of Lame Deer and Busby, while his family owned businesses from Hardin to Ashland.
Fox said his campaign for governor is centered around electability in the general election, as well as a strategic campaign for Montana's future. Using a coalition of citizens, his campaign has come up with a 15 pillar set of strategies. The first pillar centers on agriculture, its impact on Montana, and how it should look in the future. Fox commented that he will use the pillars as a plan to be "ready to govern on day one."
Citizens are encouraged to comment on the strategies, which Fox says enables his campaign to adapt to the needs of the public.
Fox is currently pitted against Republican candidates Al Olszewski and Greg Gianforte in the primary.
Fox's campaign website, which includes his strategy and a mechanism for public comment, is available at http://www.foxforgovernor.com.
