Museum Minutes

By Jessica Malone

Board members and volunteers met at the Powder River Historical Museum on Friday to discuss and plan the upcoming 2020 season. Ron Talcott acted as President and Chairman of the Powder River Historical Society for many years and although he served numerous areas of the Broadus community, I believe his loss will be felt most deeply at the museum. Without Ron at the helm, an important order of business was to elect and confirm officers and directors to manage the upcoming season. Current museum Directors include: Charley Emmons as an Honorary Director, Boo Crane, Pat Hanlan, Bob Talcott, Sandy Smith, Bob Hagedorn and Jessica Malone with Duane Talcott joining us this year. Current officers were confirmed with Darlene Wash as Vice President, Dee Talcott as Treasurer and Twila Talcott as Secretary with Jessica Malone newly elected as President.

Ron Talcott dedicated countless hours to the preservation of history and the betterment of our community and I think of Ron as one of the pillars of the museum foundation. Every tour he led meant a life touched by his enthusiasm and passion. As we lose these community servants, each year it becomes more difficult to continue the daily operations of the museum. If you enjoy people and value the history of our region and the legacy of your ancestors, I encourage you to consider volunteering this summer. It’s a fun and truly fascinating experience. Half a day each week or even one day a month can help us continue to keep this incredible facility open to the public. Contact Dee Talcott to discuss your schedule availability.
