Several cases are ongoing in Judge Michael Hayworth’s District Court.
A case is currently pending against Catherine Breuer of Broadus on a meth charge. On July 12, 2018, a person matching Breuer’s description was seen in Broadus sitting in a fire truck which had been taken from the Belle Creek Fire Department without the department’s knowledge. A subsequent search warrant on the truck by the Powder River Sheriff’s Department turned up a vial which was confirmed by the state crime lab to be methamphetamine. Breuer was arrested in early November of 2019, and is currently being held after failing a drug test and failing to appear, to which she eventually was caught in January. The felony charge has a maximum penalty of five years in prison, and a $5000 fine.
Jerry Lei of Powder River County is currently wanted on a felony warrant for the criminal trespass of a vehicle, as well as a criminal mischief charge. Both charges stem from a September 28th incident in which a 2006 Ram was broken into at Mile Marker 16, on Hwy 59 South. Surveillance footage from a nearby location, as well as a passerby on the highway noted an individual fitting Lei’s description breaking through the back window of the pickup. The criminal trespass charge carries a maximum fine of $500 and 6 months in jail, while the felony criminal mischief charge carries a maximum of 10 years of $50,000 in fines.
