Letters to the Editor

Billy,

Another letter to the editor on socialism:

As we anticipate another long election year ahead, and I hear those proposing more socialism for us, perhaps we should contemplate more questions about that system.

Knowing that VA hospitals and Indian Health Services (U.S. government-provided healthcare) are notorious for corruption, waste, dangerous practices, long waiting times to see doctors, and not fixing problems, why does anyone believe that a U.S. national healthcare system wouldn't suffer similar problems?

Knowing that socialist governments have the power to make citizen-victims equally poor, equally miserable, equally bored, equally terrified, equally starved and equally murdered (all of which happen with regularity), what reasoning would cause us to believe that those things wouldn't happen here?

Recently a survey was done by an organization called Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation that revealed a large percent of people between the ages of 16-38 have a favorable opinion of the word "socialism". We all need to take the time to inform ourselves and especially the younger generation of the reality of the socialist system. Once imposed, there is no turning back.
