When we consider the plethora of candidates running for president next year and their openly socialist stand, shouldn't we be asking ourselves and them common sense questions about why socialism doesn't work, and never has. Except of course, for those in the oligarchy that are pulling the strings.
When you give government enough power to do good, you also give it enough power to be abusive and do bad. Why would anyone think that once government functionaries attained such power, they would act more nobly than would individuals in the private sector?
For socialist ideology to work, the government must be empowered to equitably distribute the nation's wealth, taking from the haves in order to give to the have nots. But since this has never worked in practice, why would we assume that American socialists wouldn't gift themselves with much larger "shares" of the wealth than they give to others?
