A year ago last Christmas, my mother-in-law was attentively listening to the Christmas message, when she suddenly slumped over and became non-responsive.
It sounds like a set-up for a good pastor joke, but it was actually occurring right here in Faith Bible Church. We were blessed to have numerous individuals on-hand that were able to give her care and to facilitate the ambulance transport for her to end up having a quadruple by-pass.
But what if a person went into full cardiac arrest? What would our options be?
As a pastor, I frequently talk about our faith being about a heart-condition. But that understanding changes from the spiritual to the physical hearts during cardiac arrest.
When we considered the amount of use the church facility receives between dinners, classes, recreation and, of course, church, it will only be a matter of time before the need for an AED will once again come about.
Because of this high usage of Faith Bible Church, the leadership endeavored to pursue the purchase of an AED or Automatic Electronic Defibrillator. These machines take care of all the shock administration necessary once the electrodes are placed on the victim.
Thanks to a 50% assistance grant by the Powder River Community Endowment Fund, that piece of hardware is now installed at Faith Bible Church. We appreciate this investment in our community. The investment was significant, because the purchase price was $1250.
So please join us for church to check out your spiritual heart condition. But you can also have confidence that your physical heart condition is under consideration as well.
