4-Hers marked the end of the 4-H year with fun, food and recognition. Callie Williams, Teen 4-H President, welcomed 4-H members, leaders and family to the evening's festivities. Fellow Teen 4-Hers Kyle Minow, Kori Kolka, Garrett Cunningham, Kaydin Trent, Beau and Paysen Kuhbacher, Tawna Quiroz and Oliveah Schaffer emceed the event and organized icebreaker activities for their younger peers.
The 4-H Council officers were recognized including Missy Billing, President, who was thanked for 15 years as a volunteer in the 4-H program, Joan Knobloch, Vice President, Heather Cunningham, Secretary and Dawn Aye, Treasurer.
The Achievement of Excellence award went to several deserving youth. It is an honor bestowed upon those 4-H members who go above and beyond in the 4-H program. These youth participate in Demonstration Day, exhibit at the fair and complete records in each of their projects. They take their 4-H involvement to the next level by either promoting 4-H, leading an educational workshop, helping someone with their project or participating in a community service activity. Achievement of Excellence award winners for 2019 include Shyla and Ashton Madsen, Kassie Hagedorn, Alexis Gotfredson, Jeff Cahoon, Madisyn Kramme, Kade and Darren VerWolf, Emelyn Harper, Whitney Hartman, Colton and Zach Jones, Noah Dudek, Karena Appleman and Laney Williams.
Officer awards were also presented during the ceremony. Club secretaries were recognized by a gift sponsored by Kelda Page. They included Zadeea Graham, Aspen Krantz, Lea Aye, Alivia Landa, and Kassie Hagedorn.
Treasurers of each club were recognized with gifts sponsored by John and Julie Riley. They included Casey Knobloch, Garrett Cunningham, Lea Aye, Lauryn Billing, Jaxon Bilbrey, Ashton Madsen, and Hylee Layne.
Jeff Cahoon was recognized for his work on his club's scrapbook receiving an historian award sponsored by the 4-H Council. The reporter awards were sponsored by Mary and Owen Rumph and went to Hannah Dudek, Abi Krantz and Shaylee Bilbrey.
Grayson Arithson was the lone recipient of the Montana Stockgrowers Association's Steer of Merit Certificate for his steer he exhibited at the County Fair. Swine of Excellence Certificates, sponsored by the Montana Pork Producers Council, went to Kade VerWolf, Rheanna Schroeder, Kanin, Aspen and Abigail Krantz, Lauryn Billing, Jayce Schroeder, Emelyn Harper, Alexis Gotfredson, Jaxon Bilbrey, Justin Aye, Karena Appleman and Callie Williams.
Montana Wool Growers Association sponsored the Montana Certified Lamb Certificates which went to Beau Kuhbacher, Farrah Gaskill, Danica Schroeder, Chas Gaskill, Kendal Stanley, Emelyn Harper, Shaylee Bilbrey, Bonita Kinzer, Ezra Gotfredson, Lea Aye and Garrett Cunningham.
This year there was a tie in the top Fair Exhibitor Award in the Senior Division. Lea Aye and Garrett Cunningham shared the honors. Each received an award sponsored by John and Julie Riley. Top Fair Exhibitor in the Junior Division was presented to Lauryn Billing, who received an award sponsored by Tim and Gaylene Fortner.
The evening concluded with a slide show reflecting 4-H member's involvement during the past year and a supper sponsored in part by the Powder River County 4-H Council.
