Letters to the Editor

Dear Examiner,

Your statement just arrived so it is time to send the annual check for Alvin’s subscription. Although we moved away from Broadus in 1969, Alvin looks forward very much to the arrival of his hometown newspaper.

August 2-3, a Kramlich family reunion was held in Bozeman, Montana at the home of Doreen Wright Stoppel and her husband Brian Stoppel. Over 50 descendents of early Broadus residents Fred and Freda Kramlich attended. Fred and Freda had eight children who survived to adulthood. Children and/or grandchildren and great-grandchildren of each of their eight children were in attendance at the reunion, coming from California, North Carolina, Illinois, Texas, Colorado, Japan, Oregon and, Montana. Alvin, at 93, received the prize for the oldest person there.

Activities enjoyed were floating the Madison River, touring Yellowstone Park and the Museum of the Rockies, hiking to nearby falls, and a bonfire with S’mores on the bank of the East Gallatin River. Mona Jean Carlson Williams compiled an up-to-date genealogy for each attendee. Doreen Wright Stoppel and her daughter Marci Gregory designed reunion commemoration coffee mugs for everyone with the motif H Lazy E, Fred Kramlich’s brand, which were very popular.

Alvin is doing quite well. He still enjoys going to work at our daughter’s business one day a week.
