At the monthly school board meeting held last Monday, the Board discussed the school budgets for the upcoming school year. Overall, taxpayers will be on the hook for slightly less money in the coming year - $12,588 less in the high school and $11,437 in the elementary.
The Board officially hired Mike Richards as Activities Director, while also hiring Matt Hagedorn and Cass Zimmer as Assistant HS Football Coaches. Jacy Collins was hired as the Assistant Girls Basketball Coach, Dustin Lanke as Assistant Boys Basketball Coach, and Amy Minow as Family & Consumer Sciences teacher. Lori Fortner was was hired as a volunteer Cheer coach, and Raevyn Drane as JH Volleyball volunteer. Chrystal Mitchell has been approved as a substitute teacher. The board also accepted the resignation of Kim Blain as the Assistant Girls Basketball Coach.
An upcoming project to replace the high school roof is in the works. A meeting will be held on August 28th to discuss the project. Superintendent Jim Hansen said the school has been financially preparing for the roof, which has exceeded its 20 year life expectancy, being replaced in 1993. He does not expect to have to run a levy for the roof, as was done in the 1992 budget year for the last roof replacement.
