4-H Horse Show Had "Ranchy" Start

The 4-H Horse Show had great participation and several exhibitors in the winner's circle. The show started with an unplanned "pasture roping" of an escaped yearling heifer needed for the Working Ranch Project. Once the renegade was returned to the Fairgrounds and Laney Williams was in possession of her horse, the show began.

Garrett Cunningham was put through the paces to earn a Champion Senior Horse Showman award. He also exhibited the Reserve Grand Champion Conformation, Grand Champion Colt to Maturity, and Grand Champion Colt-Under-Saddle completing his colt to maturity project with his 5-year-old, a feat worthy of mentioning. In addition, Garrett has started a yearling this year. Garrett received awards sponsored by East Fork Roping Club, Marian Hanson in memory of Darrel, Denbury Onshore, and Owen and Mary Rumph.

The Best Beginner and Champion Junior Horse Showman was Ava Landa; Reserve Champion Junior Horse Showman honors went to Zachary Jones. Ava received a buckle sponsored by the Randy Shannon family and the Owen Rumph family, a cash award sponsored by Denbury Onshore, and an award sponsored by Paul and Kristi Mobley. Zachary received prizes sponsored by Mike Williams.

She received awards sponsored by Liz McFarland and Mike Wigen, the Powder River Quarter Horse Association, Julie Emmons, and McGill Land & Livestock – Lewis & Tawny McGill.
