With much thought and effort, former Social Services Director, Kathy Bowers, applied for a Civil Money Penalty Grant for the Powder River Manor. These grants can only be applied for if the money is used directly for the residents’ needs.
Grant money of $12,564.98 was awarded to Powder River Manor for the purchase of a large touchscreen monitor, a compact computer which will be attached to the back of that monitor, an electronic tablet, and an omiVista Mobii, which is an interactive machine that allows the Activities Department to display interactive games and activities on the table top to encourage participation in mental and physical activities.
The Resident Council agreed to purchase 3 wireless, noise resistant headphones to go along with the computer setup so those hard of hearing can enjoy movies, YouTube, and video chats with their loved ones. Families are encouraged to bring in SD cards containing pictures that their family members would enjoy and also set up Facebook pages for their loved ones so they can keep in touch with their families and friends. It would also be greatly appreciated if families would think about donating memberships to Netflix, RidePass, or any other programing that you think the residents would enjoy.
