Starlab, a portable, inflatable planetarium, will be on hand at the Broadus VFW on Friday, August 2nd between 11 AM and 6 PM. The planetarium, along with presentations on space and science, are provided by the Carter County Museum.
A variety of 30 minute educational films and presentations will take place over the course of the day, including subjects such as magnetism, the constellations according to the North American Indian Tribes, the moon, a tour of the planets, and other subjects.
The programs are free, and available for kids and adults alike. The presentations will be held by Carter County Museum Summer Educator Stephen Hobe. Mr. Hobe studied Biology (Paleontology) and Musical Theatre at Carthage College in Kenosha, WI where he received his undergraduate degree. He then pursued a MM in Vocal Performance from Roosevelt University's Chicago College of Performing Arts. Mr. Hobe has spent his summers in Ekalaka, MT for the past 7 years. Mr. Hobe worked with the Carter County Museum as an intern in 2013, designing and building exhibits, making illustrations, doing fossil prep work and aiding in the founding of the now annual Dino Shindig, for which he would return to volunteer almost every year since. Most recently, Mr. Hobe has been seen around Southeastern Montana pioneering the Carter County Museum's new Star Parties.
