TOWN OF BROADUS
COUNCIL MEETING
July 9, 2019
Present at the meeting were: Mayor Lyman Amsden; Councilperson Lori Turnbough; Councilperson Wanda Smith; Councilperson Pete Wenzel; Councilperson Cody Morris; Public Works Raymond Ragsdale; Public Works Cassidy Zimmer and Clerk Peggy Fruit.
Following the Pledge of Allegiance, Mayor Amsden called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm. Councilperson Smith moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Councilperson Turnbough seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Public Works Zimmer reported the 4th of July event went well and traffic was handled. Gazebo and Park Bathroom roofs have been replaced; Gazebo painted; Let’r Buck sign has been redone and framed, the old sign has been taken to the museum; and mowing never ends this year. The DES and FEMA project is being worked on, and one of four projects have been completed.
Clerk Fruit presented Mayor and Council with Resolution 2019-03 Requesting Distribution of Bridge and Road Safety and accountability Program Funds; this money will be used for street repairs. The Town of Broadus will receive $11,973.58 and will have matching funds of $598.68 totaling $12,572.26 for repairs. Councilperson Wenzel moved to approve Resolution 2019-03; Councilperson Smith seconded the motion. Motion Carried.
Public Works Ragsdale reported DEQ has a few more questions which need answered before they will sign off on the Lagoon Project. Ragsdale has completed discharging the lagoon.
Julie Riley presented a stencil design which they would like to paint on the streets depicting the designated walking trail. Following discussion, Councilperson Morris moved to give them permission to continue with the project. Councilperson Wenzel seconded the motion. Motion carried.
With no further business before the Council, Councilperson Wenzel moved to adjourn; Councilperson Morris seconded the motion. Mayor Amsden adjourned this meeting of the Broadus Town Council at 6:35 pm.
