Lockwood brothers to compete in Williston, Sheridan this week
Jess Lockwood, local PBR bull rider, moved to number 3 in the world rankings after going 2 for 2 at the Dakota Community Bank & Trust Touring Pro Division event on Saturday night, at the Bismarck Event Center.
Jess picked up 225 world points on 89 and 89.5 point rides in Bismarck.
Lockwood’s win in North Dakota comes on the heels of another win on June 8th in Deadwood, SD. In muddy conditions, Jess was the only rider to turn in an eight second ride in the short go.
The 21-year-old bull-rider returned to riding in late spring following a collarbone injury in February. Jess looks to repeat his 2017 Championship season, as he currently sits 389 points behind current leader Jose Vitor Leme.
With hopes to tighten the world race gap this week, a busy schedule awaits. Jess is entered in three events this weekend including the Williston PBR, presented by Marquis Metal Works, in Williston, North Dakota, on June 20; the Forever West PBR in Sheridan, Wyoming, on June 21; and the Binford PBR Touring Pro in Binford, North Dakota, on June 22.
Lockwood returns to the Unleash the Beast series (aka the Varsity PBR events) on July 22-23, at Cheyenne Frontier Days.
Jake Lockwood, Jess’s younger brother, also competed in Deadwood and Bismarck but did not garner any points. Jake will compete in Williston and Sheridan this week along with his brother, before heading to ride in Canada on Saturday.
