State music festival was held in Billings on May 3-4 at Billings Senior High School. The students received Superior and Excellent ratings. Those who received Superior ratings were Samantha Perry and Megan Johnson on their tenor saxophone solos, Alessandro Galieni on his violin solo, the saxophone quartet of Kylee Drane, Kiarah Coulter, Kye Stanley and Samantha Perry and Deanna Twedt on her clarinet solo.
The events which received an Excellent rating were Luke McAlpine, Donovan Sturtz and Shannon Knapp on vocal solos, Deanna Twedt and Megan Johnson on their clarinet-tenor saxophone duet, two vocal trios made of Megan Johnson, Deanna Twedt, Kori Kolka and the other one with Layla Preite, Megan Johnson and Shannon Knapp, the violin/ clarinet quartet with Jadyn Traub, Keelyn Murdoch, Erick McConnon, and Alessandro Galieni and a vocal duet of Erick McConnon and Donovan Sturtz. Also receiving Excellent ratings was the band ensemble made up of Jadyn Traub, Kyle Minow, Beau Kuhbacher, Brian Hopkins, Kye Stanley, Kylee Drane, Kiarah Coulter, Samantha Perry, Erick McConnon, Keelyn Murdoch and the vocal ensemble of Layla Preite, Deanna Twedt, Luke McAlpine, Tate Page, Donovan Sturtz, Megan Johnson, Kori Kolka and Shannon Knapp. A big thank you to Mrs. Gaskill, Danny and Caroline Johnson and Ernie Reaves for helping to make this a successful trip. Don't forget the Elementary Concert on May 14 at 6:00. A bake sale will follow the concert!
