Benches are a welcoming sight for visitors to the community and an inviting place to rest along a city street, sidewalk or trail when one is needed. The Powder River Trails club will be placing memorial benches around town and along the walking trail. Your help would be greatly appreciated with the funding of these worthy project. The Trails organization, with help from the School Community Development Council, will work with businesses and city officials to properly install the memorial benches.
Several people in the community have requested benches be placed at specific places around town. These are places where a rest on their walk is welcomed and needed. One location is halfway between Broadus’ downtown and the Cashway Café; another is in front of the Senior Center; another is located on South Trautman near the Powder River Manor.
Another item that improves the walkability and bikeability of a community is having bike racks available to lock up or stall a bike. A bike rack is being considered for the Henry Malley Memorial Library and as tree protectors on the town square.
For questions about purchasing a memorial bench for a loved one or installing bike racks for bicyclists in the community, contact the Extension Office at 436-2424.
