Herzog and Coulter win at Laurel Meet

Broadus High School Track traveled to Laurel last weekend for the Park City/Harlo Meet, where they competed against over 20 teams, and 500 athletes, according to Broadus Head Coach Jerry Coulter.

Standout performances for the Hawks included Luke Herzog, who won first in the 800 meter with a 2 minute 6.30 second run. Kiarah Coulter placed in three events, taking first in the long jump with a 16 foot 3 inch jump, fourth in the Shot Put with a 34 foot 1 inch throw, and fifth in the Javelin with a 99 foot 6.5 inch throw. Kiarah's performance also qualified her for the Southern Montana Top Ten Meet, which was originally set for this Tuesday, but was rescheduled to Wednesday due to weather.

At the Top Ten, Kiarah will compete against track stars from across the southern tier of Montana across all classes, including the Billings and Bozeman schools. Kiarah qualified for this meet in her Freshman and Sophomore year, and now again as a Senior.

Speaking of the team as a whole, Coach Coulter was happy with their performance: "The whole team had a great day. Some of the guys tried out competitions they hadn't tried before, which is good to see. Karli Collins really improved on the discus, with Abigail Martin improving tremendously in the javelin."

One regular season meet is left on the year – at Miles City this Saturday, beginning at 9 AM. Next Thursday, the District Meet will take place in Baker, beginning at around 10:30 AM.
