The Broadus Track Team traveled to Baker last weekend, for a meet which started out nice but became progressively colder and windier, according to Head Track Coach Jerry Coulter.
The majority of the team was able to attend the event, though a couple athletes were still lacking in the required practices to compete in Baker.
"We had a lot of good efforts", Coulter commented on the team's performance. He also noted that a cold and steady wind affected the long distance runner's times, compared to their previous performances.
"Overall the team performed well, and we had some personal bests," Jerry said. "Rachel Rasmussen improved her 1600 meter time for a 7th place finish. Bailey Smith is improving on his sprints. Kyle Minow and Alessandro Galieni improved in their 400 meter time, to take 9th and 8th places, while Luke Herzog put in a great performance at 56.15 seconds to take 6th. Karli Collins went from a 61 foot throw last week in the discus to a 78 foot throw this week, which is a huge improvement. Kiarah Coulter added over three feet to her shot put throw, which landed her in second place. I'm impressed with the team."
Broadus will travel to Lambert for the Sidney Meet this Thursday. With the oil money of the Bakken, Richland County was able to put a lot of money into the track at Lambert, and earlier this week Sidney decided to hold their meet in Lambert instead of Sidney.
On Tuesday, April 23rd, the team will travel to Colstrip for the Twilight Meet. Action in Colstrip should begin around 3pm, according to Coulter.
