Morgan shoots perfect score

Rob Morgan, son of Bub and Gaylene Morgan, shot the perfect score of 600 points at the Northwest Sectional Archery Tournament in Laurel on April 8 and 9.

Each archer shoots 120 arrows from a distance of 20 yards. Each arrow hitting the 3 inch “bull’s eye” scores five points. Ties are broken by counting the one and one-half “x ring” shots in the center of the “bull’s eye.” One hundred and four of Morgan’s arrows were “x’s”.

He placed third in the competition, being narrowly beat out by two veteran archers, scoring 600 points with 105 and 112 “x rings.”

Gaylene Morgan also placed third in her division with 512 points.

Competition in the Northwest Sectionals are from Montana, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming and Alaska.
