BROADUS SHINING STARS PRESCHOOL: Three teams chose the preschool as their charity…

*Boot Scootin’ Ramblers sponsored by BOOT & TACK includes members Jeanne Sparks, Caeligh McCarthy, Don Rogge and Nick Knoblauch;

*The Riley’s Swann Birds, whose members are Terri Bird, Margie and Julie Riley and Tanner Swann (Leslie Bird’s husband ☺); and,

*The Shining Walkers, and the members are Molly Lloyd, Denise Ternes, Diane Stuver and Megan Johnson.

The Broadus Shining Stars Preschool began January 2019, and has grown to five 4-year old students, who will be eligible for Kindergarten this fall. Molly Lloyd, volunteer teacher, helped organize the preschool to provide a structured, loving, learning-filled environment to help kids make the successful transition to Kindergarten. The Powder River Congregational Church provides the space free of charge, and an accountant donates time for bookkeeping. Monetary donations are needed as well as VOLUNTEERS! Molly said, “Please stop by. We would love to WALK around with you and share what we have learned!”

Members chose this charity because, “We believe supporting new programs and initiatives is vital for the long term success of our community, and helping provide early education is essential to the growth of our town.”

FOOD BAG FRIDAY FOUNDATION

This charity was chosen by Heifers on the Run, and their members are Ashley Van Tine, Trista Fruit, Tammy Van Tine and Peggy Fruit. “Food Bag Friday Foundation was started by an anonymous donor here in Broadus. It is for families who might need a little extra help with food on weekends. We have an account set up at the bank for donations, and donations are always needed. We use the money to buy healthy snacks for the bags,” explained Tammy Schoenbeck, Broadus Schools Food Service Head Cook. Heifers on the Run chose this charity because it benefits young people.

BEA SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The Walk-It-Out team includes Libby Nisley, Jerri Dell, Rebecca Boman and Jennifer Grothe, teachers and staff at Broadus Schools.

The Walk-It-Out members said, “We are educators and believe in the future of our youth!” The Broadus Education Association (BEA) chooses one to two students each year, who receive a $250 scholarship.
